designer insider:
The art of the print

To us, prints are never an afterthought. They’re something we’re really passionate about.

Inspiration comes in many forms, from completely original patterns created in-house, to vintage artwork we’ve been holding on to for just the right piece, to a hot trend that we think could benefit from a little twist.

Recently, Lea, a Ryllace apparel designer, shared with us the inspiration behind some of her favorite prints of the season.

Navy Batik

A natural colored plus size linen dress

"I love this print because it gives a nod to the tie-dye trend that is coming back, but in a very modern, sophisticated way. We kept it elevated by using navy, black, and white."

Sketch Leaf

Long sleeve plus size top featuring a brushstroke floral print

"The playful pops of brushstroke leaves really sold us on this print. I love the movement and 'floating' feel the leaves had. Giving it a classic navy ground, but a not-so-classic mix of corals, makes this print perfect for the transitional season into summer."

Watercolor Animal Print

Plus size bikini top with a watercolor animal print

"Animal prints are all the rage this season, so we loved giving the swim collection a one-of-a-kind animal print that’s not so typical. This print layers many overlapping spots to create a modern camouflage look that I love."
